Over 15 Million in Sales, 273 New World Records

Acker’s first ever La Paulée Auction took place on Thursday and Friday March 2 and 3, live-streamed from Delaware with bidding parties and events in New York as part of the world's premier Burgundy wine celebration, La Paulée. The sale, which featured direct consignments from twenty of Burgundy’s best producers and esteemed collections including The Collection of Andrew Vacchiano, The Eclipse Collection, A Superlative Collection of Armand Rousseau, and The Cellar of The Emperor, was the largest in La Paulée history with $15.4 Million in total sales. There were 273 New World Records set during the two-day, mostly Burgundy auction, which saw tremendous bidding from all over the world.
The Top Ten Lots in the La Paulée auction fittingly all went to Burgundy, awarded to just three producers, Domaine de la Romanee Conti, A. Rousseau, and G. Roumier. DRC took the number one position with a jeroboam of 1971 La Tache bringing in $93,375, and the second spot was a tie with three bottles of 2015 DRC Romanee Conti and six bottles of 1993 Roumier Musigny each collecting $74,700. The fourth position was also a tie at $68,475, including three bottles of 2009 DRC Romanee Conti in banded owc, three bottles of 2019 DRC Romanee Conti, a jeroboam of 1966 DRC Richebourg which set a New World Record, and a 23-bottle vertical of Rousseau Chambertin spanning 1994-2018. DRC rounded out the Top Ten with a methuselah of 1999 Grands Echezeaux in banded owc garnering $59,760 in the ninth position and three bottles of 2017 Romanee Conti in banded owc and six bottles of 1980 La Tache tied for the tenth spot, trading at $56,025.
The Domaine-Direct Burgundy collections saw furious bidding and each brought home multiple New World Records not only in their consignments but also throughout the auction. Dujac set an impressive twenty-five new world records in the sale including three magnums of 2005 Clos St. Denis in ocb direct from their cellars collecting $16,185. Meo-Camuzet gained thirteen all-time highs inclusive of a bottle of 1988 Richebourg at $11,828 and Duroche took home twelve records with a magnum of 2019 Griotte Chambertin in owc capturing $11,828, both lots direct from the Domaines. Chateau de la Tour and Domaine de Comte Liger Belair set nine new world records each, with a bottle of 1952 Clos Vougeot from the cellars of Chateau de la Tour trading at $3,984 and a direct consignment of one jeroboam 2016 Comte Liger-Belair Vosne Romanee Les Brulees garnering $18,675. Rousseau also achieved a notable thirteen New World Records.
