ACKER CLOSES 200TH YEAR AS 2020’S
TOP WINE AUCTION HOUSE WITH $122M IN SALES

DRC, LEROY, LAFITE EMERGE AS TOP BRANDS AS ACKER SETS OVER 5,000 NEW WORLD RECORDS

NEW YORK - DECEMBER 22, 2020

2020 marked Acker’s 200th year in business and one of the most challenging 12 months for the world in those two centuries. When unchartered waters were reached as international commerce came to a screeching halt in March, Acker hosted an enviable 18 live, or “live online,” auctions, generating US$122 Million in auction sales, a 32% year-over-year increase, and achieved over 5,000 New World Records. Acker is closing out the year firmly positioned as the world’s top fine wine auction house, achieving the highest-ever wine auction sales total for a single year.  The company has released its 2020 Annual Market Report here.

In a year of many pivots and innovations, Acker is exceptionally grateful for the unwavering support received from a network of longstanding clients, friends, and winemakers around the globe. Boasting more than forty Domaine-direct consignments in their auctions this year, Acker continues to build on its strong friendships within the wine community, offering its clients bottles and experiences from these winemakers that are unrivaled in the industry. With in-person events put on pause, the company managed to stay connected with its clients, hosting over 100 virtual tastings with some of the world’s favorite wine personalities, in addition to the Acker Uncorked Series, which featured five NBA stars who are passionate about wine. Acker is proud to have partnered with two incredible organizations this year, raising over $300,000 for the United Sommeliers Foundation, which offers support to wine professionals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and donating 13,411 meals to Citymeals on Wheels, an organization that feeds New York’s homebound elderly.

As Acker expands its footprint in 2020 and beyond, with new outposts in London, Copenhagen, and Delaware, in addition to several key talent acquisitions, the company looks forward to serving as The World’s Destination for Fine and Rare Wine™ for the next 200 years and beyond.

The auction season restarts for Acker in 2021 “live online” with a 3-Day Sale on January 13th, 14th and 15th in Delaware and returns to Hong Kong on January 23rd. Acker is currently accepting wines for its winter “live online” auctions, with weekly web auctions closing every week. For more information, email info@ackerwines.com
